Parade Information

The parade information shown below is from 2016 however, this information does not tend to change very much from year to year, so this info may or may not be accurate. Once this disclaimer is no longer present, the information will have been verified as accurate for the 2017 parade, and the download link for the application will be activated.

The Monmouth-Independence Rotary Club Grand Parade is held annually on July 4th. It's route is approximately 3 miles long, beginning at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, and traveling through Monmouth and Independence on Main and Monmouth Streets to Riverview Park where it ends. A fun-run (mini-marathon) begins at 11:30 AM followed shortly by a childrens parade which begins at 11:35 AM. The Grand Parade staging begins at 9:00 AM and steps-out at noon. Judging is held from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.  The staging area is on Monmouth Ave. at the north end of Western Oregon University.

This year's parade theme is "Independence Day". All entries should be decorated to express the spirit of the holiday.

Grand Parade Entry Fees:  Early Bird Entry - $20.00 per entry,  $25.00 from June 26 through day of parade.

There will be a Grand Ribbon awarded for the Most Patriotic entry, and there will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards presented for each of the following categories:

  • Best Youth Entry
  • Best Youth Equestrian
  • Best Equestrian Entry
  • Best Float
  • Most Effort in Preparation
  • Highway Trucks
  • Farm Equipment *
  • Modern Vehicles *
  • Antique Vehicles (1963 & earlier)

* * These categories will be judged on cleanliness and decorations.

Entry Forms will be available at Monmouth and Independence City Halls & Libraries, or one can be downloaded below.
